53 years ago today Woodstock wrapped up the 3 day festival.
The Woodstock Music & Art Fair closed with Jimi Hendrix's Epic final set, wrapping up the 3 day festival in Bethel, New York.
More than 450,000 people made their way to the small upstate New York town to hear some of rock's biggest bands perform at that time.
Although Woodstock ran from August 16-18th 1969, it was neither the first nor the last major festival concert. The fact that the youth of America were able to congregate in one place with no violence during one of the most turbulent years of the decade, gave birth to the notion of the "Woodstock Nation," and gave a voice as well as a face to the hippie ideal.
Artists who performed at the legendary festival include Janis Joplin, The Who, The Band, Canned Heat, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, and more!
